Liz was thrilled to share the celebrations at an award dinner on Tuesday 9 May along with SWOYO member George and some of the OpenUp Music team, who have worked so hard to take SWOYO to this point - next step the National Open Youth Orchestra in 2018!
Many thanks go to the University of the West of England for their research support - and special mention to Ian Holmes (conductor and then Director of Performing Arts), Lydbrook Band, UWE Singers and Alison Howell (organ) who were integrally involved in SWOYO's first performance in April 2016.

Some of the best brass musicians in the world, at the peak of their powers, each presenting a programme of contemporary and traditional repertoire, along with major solo works, effortlessly linked by the inimitable Frank Renton.
Each band will be encouraged to present themselves in their best possible light, playing to their strengths and free of the stresses and strains of contesting.
