Composer in Association with the world famous Grimethorpe Colliery Band announced by 'Enchanted Light', a new Bluebird.
Coincidentally coinciding with both my birthday and International Women's Day, I was thrilled to share our latest Bluebird, Enchanted Light, to announce my new position with Grimethorpe Colliery Band on 8 March 2021. I gathered together a wonderful team in order to create our first project, created entirely online. For some time Belinda and I had wanted to use Carole Bent's lovely words and this seemed the perfect opportunity. I wanted to combine Belinda Evans' beautiful voice with brass band and something rather different, the gorgeous little ottavino, an instrument I was commissioned to write for a few years ago by Colin Booth (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lv9cSP5lTUE&t=65s). My friend and colleague Lukas Greiwe from the University of the West of England put together the audio, Sam Johnston from Grimethorpe the video and my cousin-in-law Gary Andrews the animation.
My thanks to all involved including of course the Grimethorpe Colliery Band and their Musical Director David Thornton. Very much looking forward to seeing where our creative journey takes us!
