A concert to mark Arts Council England's 70th anniversary on 11 November at the Arnolfini, Bristol, will feature a newly commissioned 30 minute work Dance where the Spirit Enlightens for mixed ensemble. Bringing together a diverse group of musicians ranging from professionals to students, the music marks the 70th anniversary of the Arts Council with seven movements representing seven decades and also depicts key elements of Arts Council England's support: collections; combined arts; dance; libraries; literature; museums; music; theatre and visual arts.
The seventeen piece ensemble features Ruth Watson - oboe/cor anglais; Andrew Loveridge - saxophones; Belinda Evans - soprano; David Thornton - euphonium; Steph West - harp; Alice Cleaver - cello; RSVP Bhangra and members of Lydbrook Band, conducted by Ian Holmes. Additional music by RSVP Bhangra and words by Andy Rashleigh.

Some of the best brass musicians in the world, at the peak of their powers, each presenting a programme of contemporary and traditional repertoire, along with major solo works, effortlessly linked by the inimitable Frank Renton.
Each band will be encouraged to present themselves in their best possible light, playing to their strengths and free of the stresses and strains of contesting.
