Broadcast of new recording on the CD Postcards from Grimethorpe by Grimethorpe Colliery Band conducted by Jack Stamp
Serenata was broadcast on Georgia Mann's Essential Classics programme on Friday 15 September. One of two pieces on Grimethorpe's new CD, Serenata is currently one of my most performed works around the world including USA, Europe and UK by bands including Grimethorpe, Lydbrook, Bjorksvik, Lake Wobegon, Lithuanian, Regent and Fulham Brass Bands. Written (overnight!) in memory of Yvonne Hamblin from Lydbrook Band after the sad news of her death, it is playable by reduced formation and from youth through to championship sections.
Copies are available free of charge in aid of the British Heart Foundation from http://bit.ly/serenata-lizlane.
Currently available on catch-up until mid October 2023: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m001q78m.
