Liz undertook an exciting trip to Katowice Poland with Lydbrook Band and guest conductor Tom Brevik as part of the Move Your Brass Festival. Poland already have a well established wind band tradition and the kultura deja ('brass culture') initiative aims to introduce a brass band movement to the country. Liz and Tom, together with Jacob Dijkstra (Netherlands) and Remigius Vilys (Lithuania) undertook several workshops during the five day tour. The band were delighted to entertain audiences at four concerts, receiving great appreciation and standing ovations; Liz was also pleased to help out playing timpani - she can be seen on the right of this photo!
A performance by one of the best brass bands in the world, a top conductor, and fabulous narrator - and knowing this wouldn't have been possible without my studies at the highly respected Cardiff University Music School, currently threatened with closure.
