Liz was invited to adjudicate at the recent Cory Composition Competition which took place at the Dora Stoutzker Hall, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on 20 May 2017. She and her fellow adjudicators Nigel Seaman (Musical Consultant Cory Band) and Christopher Bond (Composer in Association Cory Band), were in unanimous agreement that Andy Wareham's Tarot! Tortuous Tarot! was the worthy winning work. The three shortlisted pieces were performed earlier in the evening's gala performance and Tarot! Tortuous Tarot!, a work inspired by cards and fortune-telling, was played again in the second half after the winner was announced. Liz summed up the judge's thoughts to the band and audience by mentioning that, although all of the competition entries played were well orchestrated, the winning piece best met the competition brief's criteria.
The Cory Band have been the number one ranked brass band in the world for the last ten years
