The live music on this BBC The One Show feature is Silver Rose.
I had just started a new academic post at UWE Bristol as Senior Lecturer in Music Technology - Composition and Performance, for which I was allocated some research time. A chance meeting led to me re-imagining Silver Rose and co-facilitating the first performance of the South West Open Youth Orchestra (OpenUp Music) at Bristol Cathedral, in collaboration with Ian Holmes, Director of the Centre for Performing Arts. I was subsequently awarded the UWE Bristol Computer Science and Creative Music Technology Researcher of the Year 2017.
I am proud to have continued my association with OpenUp Music as a trustee.
Performers were: Lydbrook Band, UWE Singers, SWOYO, Barry Farrimond (narrator), Alison Howell (organ), Ian Holmes (conductor), 16 April 2016.
