Mbale Youth Brass Band
The Mbale Youth Brass Band, run by the FDNC (Foundation for the Development of Needy Communities) is Uganda's only brass band.  In 2005 they undertook a UK tour and performed a fanfare I wrote for them; their concerts were amazing - incredibly energetic and upbeat, playing everything from memory (most don't read music at the moment) and combined with a mix of drumming and dancing - sometimes seemingly all at once!  They are currently raising funds to set up a music school and Uganda's first youth orchestra.
